Hugh Jackman tweets photo of himself as Jean Valjean in ‘Les Miserables’

Hugh Jackman has gifted the world a photo of himself in character as Jean Valjean in Tom Hooper’s upcoming movie based on the musical (based on the novel) “Les Miserables.” He tweeted the image Tuesday.

Even with a shaved head and dirty face, the Aussie actor and stage vet certainly make a very attractive prisoner 2-4-6-0-1.(Hipster beard, anyone?) I eagerly await peeks of Jackman as Jean Valjean 2.0 — mayor and factory owner — and 3.0 — escaped convict and protective father to Cosette.

Several paparazzi photos of Jackman in his prisoner attire, as well as a pictures of Russell Crowe as Inspector Javert, hit the Web in the past few days. Crowe has also been tweeting out tidbits from the set, slowly driving those of us who want to see the film very badly crazy with anticipation.

Fortunately, we’ll get to see the film this year. (Unfortunately, not until late 2012.). “Les Miserables” — which also stars Anne Hathaway as Fantine, Amanda Seyfried as Cosette and Sacha Baron Cohen as Thenardier — will be released December 2012, giving musical theater nerds everywhere exactly what they want for Christmas.
