Mindy McCready, son found in closet: Boy will be taken from Arkansas to Florida

Mindy McCready. (Mark Humphrey - AP)
Mindy McCready and her five-year-old son were found Friday by police in Arkansas, the Associated Press reports, days after they were reported missing by authorities in Florida.

The country singer and her son Zander, whom she does not have custody of, were found in a bedroom closet of a summer home they did not have permission to be in, police told the AP. David Wilson, McCready’s boyfriend, was also in the home.

Zander was taken into custody and “appeared to be in good condition,” CNN reports. Arrangements are being made to return the boy to Gayle Inge, his maternal grandmother and guardian, in Florida.

McCready, who said she is pregnant with twins, took her son from her father’s home in Florida before Thanksgiving. She did not follow a judge’s order to return her son to the state by Thursday.

It is not clear if McCready will face criminal charges.
