- At midnight, we announced that the Fillmore Silver Spring would open on Sept. 15 with a concert from Mary J. Blige. Now, the new venue’s Web site is up and running, with 13 other acts listed through October, including Black Star on Sept. 18, Blondie on Sept. 20 and Cheap Trick on Sept. 27.

 - Wale appears to be hard at work on his new album, “Ambition,” which is scheduled to drop November 1. We’re glad to hear that the producers Best Kept Secret are involved.

 - BET announced in a tweet that it will be honoring Aaliyah next month, ten years after her death. The ahead-of-her-time R&B star died in a plane crash in the Bahamas on Aug. 25, 2001.
