Local news: Little Benny funeral on Friday

Funeral services for Anthony "Little Benny" Harley will take place this Friday, June 11, at the Washington Convention Center. Harley, a go-go legend who played with Rare Essence, Proper Utensils, Chuck Brown, and Little Benny and the Masters died May 30. Harley's body will lie in repose at the Convention Center beginning at 9 a.m.; services begin at 11 a.m.

Tributes to Harley continue. On June 19, Chuck Brown and Sugar Bear of E.U. will honor Harley at a concert celebrating the start of the Goodman League season, at U Street's Masonic Temple at 1000 U St. N.W.

DJ Gemini of 93.9 WKYS is circulating a link to a free download Little Benny tribute mix he recently put together. And Kato Hammond of TMOTTGOGO.com has video from a tribute to Harley that took place at Ballou Senior High school last week.
