A weekly playlist for the listener with a one-track mind...
Kanye West featuring Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Bon Iver and Nicki Minaj: "Monster"
Yeezy goes "True Blood" on this Saturday-morning cartoon of a track from his upcoming Hova collaboration EP "Watch the Throne." It's sprawling and messy and pretty great, even if Minaj is inexpressibly awful, and Iver is underused.
Deadmau5 and Wolfgang Gartner: "Animal Rights"
Electro-house producer Gartner and Canadian beatmaker Deadmau5 team for this infectious, disco-happy new track.
Bruce Springsteen: "Save My Love"
This raw, tentative and completely amazing "Darkness"-era outtake drops in advance of the Boss's vault-clearing November release "The Promise."
The Game featuring Swizz Beatz and Jay Electronica: "Higher"
Game throws everything he's got, including a Bob Marley sample, at this still-unfinished track. It's his best work in years, though it may get better still: The finished version is rumored to include a verse from Nas.
Wayne and Wax: "Galangs" (MIA x Vijay Iyer Trio)
MIA's "Galang" and Iyer's '09 piano-based cover of same unite, with classier-than-the-usual-mash-up results.
