After a two-year search, police arrested a 39-year-old Laurel man in connection with a homicide in Silver Spring, authorities said Thursday.
Vincent Lloyd Minto, one of three suspects in the 2009 shooting death of Clarence Rankine, 63, was caught in Reading, Penn. on Sunday after local police made contact with him in an unrelated incident.
Rankine was shot at least 12 times after arguing with a group of men, police said. He was found dead near a side entrance to his home in the 900 block of University Boulevard East on Aug. 30, 2009.
Three suspects were named in the homicide: Minto; Winston D. Dillon, 39, of Hyattsville; and Lonzell Gregory Smith, 38, of New Carrollton. Dillon and Smith were both arrested within two weeks of the slaying, on Sept. 9 and Sept. 11, 2009, respectively.
Minto was the last of the three suspects to be arrested. He is currently in custody in Reading, pending an extradition hearing.
