Man dead after Loudoun crash

A 76-year-old man from Tennessee died after a three-vehicle crash in Loudoun County on Friday afternoon, authorities said Monday.

David Doane was a passenger in a 2010 Toyota Prius that was headed west on Route 9 near Creamer Lane when the driver of a Pontiac heading the other way lost control, crossed the center line and hit the Prius and another car, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Doane was taken to INOVA Fairfax Hospital, where he died, authorities said. The drivers of the Pontiac, who was ejected from the vehicle, and the Prius remain in the hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the third car and a passenger in that car were treated for minor injuries at another hospital and have been released, authorities said.
