A Crofton man was killed on the Capital Beltway Monday night when he was struck by a truck, Maryland state police said.

At about 8:45 p.m., Maryland state troopers went to the northbound I-495 near Route 1 for a report of a pedestrian in the roadway.

Troopers found John M. Beasley, 37, lying unresponsive on the right shoulder. Paramedics took Beasley to Prince George's Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead.

State police identified the driver of the truck that struck Beasley as John W. Broderick, 57, of Crofton.
