Md. pedestrian hit by two cars, dies

An intoxicated Laurel man who was lying in a roadway was fatally hit by two cars, according to Anne Arundel County police.

Robert Leo Gore, 50, was killed Sunday at about 6:30 p.m. while crossing Laurel Fort Meade Road west of Whiskey Bottom Road. He had fallen down and was run over by a Buick Century, followed by a Mercury Mountaineer; he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are investigating whether Gore was hit by another vehicle before he was run over by the Buick and the Mercury, or if he fell on his own while crossing the roadway.

Police do not believe the drivers of the two vehicles were speeding or under the influence of alcohol.

Gore was wearing dark clothing and was outside of the crosswalk in an unlit portion of the roadway, police said.
