Fairfax County police on Thursday released composite drawings of the two men who shot and killed handyman Jose Rosales as he defended a Centreville family in their home Monday morning.
Rosales, 39, was shot to death after two men entered the garage of a home on Compton Road about 10:45 a.m. Monday and threatened the residents, the Brar family. The men then fled and police believe they left the area in an older model white Toyota pickup truck with dark tinted windows.
The first suspect is a darker-skinned black man, believed to be between his late 20s or mid-30s, and is the man who shot Rosales, police said. He spoke with a "distinct raspy voice" and may be a heavy smoker. The second suspect called this man "Slim." He appeared to have a thin mustache.
The second suspect is a lighter-skinned black man, thought to be between 20 and 25 years old. He appeared to have a light beard growing.
Both men were wearing dark jumpsuits and dark knit hats, police spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell said,

Also, an effort is underway to set up a fund for donations to the Rosales family in Guatemala, where Rosales has two children in college. Details of that fund will be published as soon as they are finalized.
