Arlington police say crime in the D.C. suburb dropped 3.7 percent, with violent crime down 8.3 percent.
The department said Thursday that there were fewer homicides, forcible rapes, robberies and aggravated assaults last year than in 2008.
The number of crimes per 100,000 people was 2,413 last year, down from 2,507 in 2008.
Police Chief M. Douglas Scott said officers have received support from the community in battling crime.
