Funeral shuts parts of Beltway Sat.

The funeral and interment of slain Maryland Trooper First Class Wesley W. Brown will take place Saturday. Expect delays along the route of the procession in PG County.

The funeral is scheduled for Saturday at Jericho City of Praise in Landover at 10 a.m. Interment is in Suitland, and the procession is scheduled to leave the church after noon. Maryland State Police spokeswoman Elena Morris said the inner loop of the Beltway will be closed Saturday from noon to 2:30 p.m. for the funeral procession. The shutdown will begin at Arena Drive and extend south to Exit 11 (Pennsylvania Avenue).

The procession will travel from Arena Drive to I-495 south; then from Exit 11B (Pennsylvania Avenue to Forestville Road; will drive by the Maryland State Police Forestville Barracks; turn right on Suitland Parkway; exit at Suitland Road and proceed to the cemetery.

Such funerals typically bring legions of law enforcement officers.
