Kimmel, the night’s featured entertainer, asked Obama: “You remember when the country rallied around you in hopes of a better tomorrow? That was hilarious.”
“There’s a term for guys like President Obama,” Kimmel said with a pause. “Probably not two terms.”
Kimmel also mocked the president and first lady Michelle Obama for her work promoting healthy eating habits and his weight loss during his time in office:
“You’re very skinny. She doesn't let you eat. I felt weird about eating dessert; I left it untouched. I’ve never done that before.”
“You know the real reason people thought you were from Kenya had nothing to do with your birth certificate. It’s because you lost so much weight we thought you were the guy who won the Boston Marathon. This is how you know our country this is in bad shape. Our president is starving.”
The host also poked fun at Vice President Biden:
“It’s kind of hard trying to be funny with the president of the United States sitting right next to you looking at you, and yet somehow day in and day out Joe Biden manages to do it. I wish he was here so he could sit behind me and fake clap like he does during the State of the Union address.”
Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.) was subject of the roasting, receiving a few blows about his weight and the first lady’s initiatives against childhood obesity. But the governor took it in stride, laughing heartily during the meal, reports the Reliable Source:
Out-of-town pols seemed to outnumber the Beltway breed in this rarefied air. Chris Christie, how’d you feel about all of Jimmy Kimmel’s fat jokes? “I have a great sense of humor,” the New Jersey governor said.
The Post’s Michael Katz highlighted a few other top jokes by the entertainer:
* “You can see how lazy we have become by the way we protest. . . . We used to march. Now we occupy.
* “Did Rupert Murdoch hack into all my jokes already?”
* “Supercommittees are to committees what Supercuts are to hair cuts.”
