A new home for disabled
The Mary Marshall Assisted Living Residence in Arlington is part of Virginia’s effort to move the disabled out of large institutions and into smaller, community-based residences. Its operators say it is unique in that all of its residents, who have intellectual disabilities or mental illnesses, are 55 or older.

Each floor has a small lounge area with a fireplace, and there's a pantry and small kitchen for those who want to prepare a meal or a snack, a laundry room, an exercise area and computer workstations.
