Aaron Linder, 47, uses a towel to stay somewhat dry as he and hundreds of job seekers line up for more than a block at the Ward 5 Costco job fair at Mount Horeb Baptist Church. Some said they came 90 minutes early just to get in line for the 9 a.m. opening. Preregistration for the event was halted due to an overwhelming response by 2,000 job seekers. The turnout of applicants was high; many stood in line for hours in the morning heat to see if their names were on a list or if they could walk in and apply for the limited number of openings. Handouts of water helped quell tempers.
