Albert Augson Jr., 52, who retired in 2002 as an Air Force technical sergeant and became a government contractor with a specialty in intelligence work, died May 2 at his home in Gaithersburg after a heart attack.
The death was confirmed by his wife, Truda Augson.
Albert Augson Jr. was born in Norfolk and attended Norfolk State University. He served for 20 years in the Air Force and developed an expertise in intelligence work. His final active-duty assignment was at Fort Meade. He worked for a series of government contractors, most recently NJVC, which assigned him to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Truda Cunningham Augson, and their son Deion Augson, both of Gaithersburg; a stepson, Bernard Cunningham of Gaithersburg; and his father and stepmother, of Richmond, Albert Augson Sr., a retired bishop in United Holy Church of America, and Nancy Augson.
